Dott.ssa Monica A. Trabalza

My name is Monica Andrea Trabalza and I am an Italian clinical psychologist. My journey began in beautiful Colombia, where I was born, and developed in Italy (my adopted country), where I grew up and graduated in Clinical Psychology in 2003. Subsequently, a series of events brought me to England, where I embarked on a personal and professional journey that gave me everything that makes me happy today. During the almost twenty years spent in England, I worked in the mental health sector in London first, and with the English national project called IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies NHS England » NHS Talking Therapies, for anxiety and depression ) in Oxford and, until January 2024, in Nottingham. Over the years, I have also attended several training courses in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and other areas of intervention in psychology.


I am a member of the following organizations:

It is crucial for me to adopt a personalized approach, calibrated to your needs and the goals you aspire to achieve. For this reason, in my work I make extensive use of the principles of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), EMDR, Motivational Interviewing, Problem Solving, Mindfulness and Compassion Focused Therapy.


In my practice, I assist the patient in navigating three temporal dimensions: past, present and future.

At the beginning, we will define realistic goals to be achieved in the short term. We will then examine the resources (external and internal) necessary to achieve them. These goals will then be regularly reviewed to verify that the path taken is the desired one.


Often, when analyzing obstacles to our personal evolution, we find ourselves examining our past, especially those painful events that have shaped our current personality. However, not everyone feels the need to do so or feels ready; the choice is yours, and I will respect it. If you decide that understanding your present requires exploring the wounds of the past, we will proceed with curiosity and compassion, knowing that, although the past cannot be changed, it can teach us a lot about ourselves and how to act differently in the present and, consequently, in the future.


In my long clinical experience I have understood that my role is not to give lessons to the client, because we human beings are intrinsically rich in resources. My task is to guide you in rediscovering your path, using the resources that you have always possessed but that perhaps you were unable to see because of your depression or anxiety, or because external circumstances clouded your vision. When you finally decide to conclude the sessions, we will develop together a wellness plan that will summarize what you have learned during the therapeutic journey and that will accompany you as long as you need it.
